Name
The Malulani Name means "Under the Shelter or Protection of Heaven." It was chosen to honor the work of Dr. Kwon and all of the people that supported this effort. While many are discouraged, the organizers of the foundation have renewed commitment to bring the dream of a quality hospital to our island. Like the original Malulani, the Malulani Foundation remains committed to providing integrated care that will feature a blend of the best Western, Asian, complementary and alternative medicine traditions.

Market
• Maui’s population is estimated to grow from 154,834 in 2010 to 167,100 or more in 2015. This is a 12.1% increase from 2000.
• An aging population will drive intense demand for hospital services. Over 26% of the Maui population is over 62 years old.
• Average daily census for visitors to Maui is between 40,000 to 50,000 people. Visitors to Maui will increase to 60,000 over the next ten years.
